Did you know that
Timberland is recalling their children's boots because of excessive lead levels? No? Neither did I until I read about it in
The Daily Green. So. What about all those people who don't read The Daily Green or The AFA blog page? Astonishing I know but I suspect there are a few out there. Don't those people have the right to safeguard their children's TOES? Do their children deserve to get cancer because their parents don't read the right periodicals?
Timberland has voluntarily recalled their boots but where is their full page NY Times ad letting people know about it? And yes, this is a rant. I'm angry! The lead level in these boots is not up for debate. Timberland ADMITS the boots are unsafe. But the method of delivery about the lead levels in those boots is certainly up for debate. Recalls in this country take place every day but the onus is usually on the consumer to find out about them.
And you know what? Go to the Timberland boots website. Go there now. I said now, are you really going to fight with me??? There isn't even a mention of this recall. They are HAPPY to sell you new boots for Christmas but nowhere, at least not tonight, is there any word about this damn recall.
It pisses me off, you know why? The AFA spent last year, the WHOLE YEAR, educating people about avoiding environmental toxins. No, it's not the only thing we did but you know what I mean. So we teach people about BPA, and Phtalates, and endocrine disruptors in the water for crying out loud. Why? So that people can be safer, and safeguard their fertility and their health and most importantly, really most importantly, have healthier children. And then we put those sweet little feet in toxic boots.
Thanks for listening. I just got so upset.
Merry Cancer. I mean Christmas.
